Message from Demonstrations Chair

Continuing the same tradition, the IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN 2018) is again including a Demonstration Session that is the tenth since the start. Contributions were invited for demonstrations on any topics related to the main conference or to the co-located workshops' coverage. The main purpose of these demonstrations was to give researchers and LCN contributors a chance to validate their research findings with practical demos and innovative prototypes that further gather interests and instigate inquisition among the LCNers.

With this spirit, this year's selection criteria included the innovation and originality factors of the research topic, the timeliness of the demo proposal, and the level of interest expected within the LCN community.

In this year's occurrence of the LCN, we have received 10 submissions, and we accepted 7 demos after rigorous reviews by the members of the Demo Board. Each demo was reviewed by at least two reviewers. Some of the accepted demos were from authors of accepted papers in the main conference or in the workshops, some others were from contribution not linked to accepted papers in the LCN.

Together with the Demo Board, we are looking forward to a spectacular demo session with dynamic and fruitful interactions between the demo presenters and the LCN audience for the benefit of all.

I hope that this Demo session will serve as an enticing session that promotes the tradition and spirit of proposing demos and prototypes, together with the proposed research innovations and findings as proper validation tools, among the LCN attendees.

Finally, I would like to thank the member of the Demo Review Board for providing careful reviews and comments for each of the demo proposals and enabled to make decisions that were as fair as possible.

The Demo Review Board includes:

• Kemal Akkaya, Florida International University, USA • Karl Andersson, Luleå University of Technology, Sweden • Nicolas Kuhn, CNES, France • Emmanuel Lochin, University of Toulouse - ISAE, France • Tim Strayer, BBN Technologies, USA • Manabu Tsukada, the University of Tokyo, Japan • Ons Bouachir, Canadian University Dubai, UAE • Amine Dhraief, University of Manouba, Tunisia • Aref Meddeb, University of Sousse, Tunisia • Anis Yazidi, Oslo and Akershus University College, Norway • Simone Ferlin, IBM Security, Norway • Katrin Reitsma, Motorola Solutions, USA

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all LCN attendees a fruitful and stimulating attendance of the LCN 2018 and an exciting and pleasant stay in Chicago.

Sincerely,

Kyong Jin Shim, Singapore Management University
