As such, this dataset is useless for obtaining information about University employees. Rather, its utility is as a dataset whose temporal characteristics (e.g. period duration, correlation of period start and end dates, number of changes over time to columns other than the primary key) closely reflect an actual enterprise. This dataset might be useful in testing temporal queries and performing empirical analyses of novel temporal storage structures and access methods.
This data set consists of seven tables.
In the following, for each table we give the name of each column, its semantics and whether it has been altered to remove confidential information. Care has been taken to preserve primary key and referential integrity constraints, and to retain the temporal behavior of the original dataset, while removing all confidential information.

The TIMECENTER icon combines two "arrows." These "arrows" are letters in the so-called Rune alphabet used one millennium ago by the Vikings, as well as by their predecessors and successors. The Rune alphabet (second phase) has 16 letters, all of which have angular shapes and lack horizontal lines because the primary storage medium was wood. Runes my also be found on jewelry, tools, and weapons and were perceived by many as having magic, hidden powers.
The two Rune arrows in the icon denote "T" and "C", respectively.
